1.
Rational Man 01:04
Primitive from habit with privilege in your bones. Doing so much damage from the comfort of your homes. Torture on the table with evil in our genes and a distorted sense of entitlement to justify our means. The stars and stripes give you no right to hunt and kill, for blood to spill from an unquestioned routine. Turning docile animals into war machines. I washed the blood from my hands as a rational man.
2.
Park Place 02:46
I never gave a fuck about what marriage means to you or what it said in a book you read that prejudiced your views. Pay no regards to testaments with bigotry in waves, condemning every woman as a child bearing slave. A Christian nation with covered eyes, governed by religious ties. Speak in tongues but I’m deaf to its xenophobic influence. The crutch of society is to fail to recognize our religious pluralism and see the world through other eyes. Separate the church and state.
3.
Sunrise 02:15
I’m begging for sleep or a tranquil mind as the 7AM sunrise pushes through my blinds. The Angel of Death gets me in his sights. It takes everything in me to make it through these Florida nights. I’m uncomfortable. Stuck inside these four walls. Knowing I might never make it out. Introversion is the whisper in my ear telling me to live without anyone else. Because everyone I love will stray, eventually. Father time will blow them away. Born alone. Live alone. Die alone.
4.
Boardwalk 02:59
Every cent I’ve spent keeps me buried like cement under vices that I can’t control. The “gift” of life comes at a price, and helplessness of modern life puts us in the ground before they dig the hole. Head above the water. Living check-to-check. While debt carries the water up your neck. Who are we supporting and what did we create? Filling pockets of the ones I hate. These greedy motherfuckers are luring suckers to their death while I’m trying not to end up like the rest. Head above the water. Living check-to-check. While debt carries the water up your neck. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Tightening their grasp to eliminate the middle class. There will be nothing left besides the kings and pawns.
5.
In small town America the idle mind corrodes. There’s not much excitement in closed strip malls and two-lane roads. Seduced by the lure to dissolve in salvation of any kind. Blue collar, white pill, gold cross, clear mind, unintelligent design. A youthful compulsion to feel alive, so we get in a car and just fucking drive. Down a single highway without a single car. Suburban boredom ripping us apart. But we’re not blinded by big city lights. Our little light posts shine just as bright. You’ll find misery wherever you may roam. And I might be miserable, but at least I’m home. There’s a hole in my soul that grows with every breath. No promised land can save me. Solace only comes in death. No promised land can save me.
